Distance vs. Displacement

Displacement means the difference between a starting and a ending position
Ex. If you walk 10 miles right and then you walk 3 miles left your Displacement will be 7 miles right because the distance between your starting and andino position is 7 mires right.

Distance means the total length traveled
Ex. If you walk 10 miles right and the 3 miles left your distance will be 13 miles because it's the total how how much you walked.

Barbie Bungee Data Estimate

I think that the drop distance would be for Barbie if it had 10 rubber bands will be about 155cm because 8 rubber bands was 135 and 10 has to be close to that number. The drop distance of Barbie if it had 20 rubber bands  is about 300cm because if 10 rubber bands is 155cm then it will have to be double and because it's not going to be linear I think it will be about 300cm. The drop distance of barbie if it had 30 rubber bands is 445cm because if 20 rubber bands is 300cm then 40 rubber bands will be 600cm and 600-155 which is 10 rubber bands is 445cm.

10 rubber bands= 155cm
20 rubber bands= 300cm
30 rubber bands= 445cm

Metric Units

We use Metric System in science because it's more simple than English System and it's also more convenient to work with base 10. We use metric units in a tape measure calibrated in (cm), in a Degress Celcius, and also in a kilogram weight.

Somethings in my house that have metric units are:

  • Salt because it's weighted in grams

  • My window is about one meter and a half

  • The furniture at my house can measure about 3 meters and a half

Estimating Distances

Procedures of how I estimated the length of the front of my house:
  • I figured out how many feet did I need to make a meter
  • I counted how many feet was it to walk across my house
  • I changed feets to meters, and I got my answer
My house is about 9.75 meter long this is reasonable because my house is not that big and I double checked after I got my answer

Reaction time

Reaction time is the time that it takes to react to a situation, Reaction Time has happened to me many times some of them are:

  • When I went for a walk with my baby cousing and his carriage went down a hill because I got distracted.

  • When I has to catch a jar that was going to fall

  • When I was crossing the street and a car almost crashed me.
